New York – Hatzalah Organizations In The State Stand To Lose Free E-ZPass Benefits

    37

New York – The MTA Board will be considering a resolution at its Board meeting on September 24, 2008, which if adopted, will eliminate non-revenue E-ZPass authorizations for public agencies and emergency services organizations. If the resolution is passed, any volunteer agency’s E-ZPass tags will no longer be valid for toll-free passage across MTA Bridges and Tunnels nine facilities and they will be required to pre-fund a revenue E-ZPass account so as to provide for uninterrupted service.

A source at the MTA that spoke to VIN News confirmed, that this will have a major impact for all Hatzalah ambulance organizations in the state of NY, as their ambulances pass MTA bridges several times a day.

Until now all Ambulances used by Hatzalah [not private volunteer vehicles] where exempt from toll fees using ez-pass

This will not affect Hatzolah’s dedication and service to the community at large.

We will still tranfer patients across the bridges an tunnels if needed.

It would be nice if the community would actually write to the MTA to have them reconsider.

    Help us help you!

with all the respect to you (assuming that you’re a member in hatzolah)i don’t think you got my point. what i’m trying to say is that if we’re ch”v not succesful and hatzolah has to pay tolls then we should make up for it by adding afew bucks to our donation. and not let the burden fall on the askonim.

    MDA,

I’m sure the patients won’t mind any bumps in the road or lying exposed to traffic.

In other words, “You Hatzolah ambulances; it’s a pleasure that you lessen the load on our city ambulances, but the city will pay you back like they repay every favor…with zero, nada, zip, you idiot Hatzolah ambulances, don’t you realize you make the slow city response time look bad??!!!”

Bloomberg, come to the “rescue”…do what you do in every city crisis, hire some more Huge Ones and give them large sunglasses to get more money from the garbage and traffic tickets given to the taxpayers.

Hey rabbosai, soon (in a couple of months), he’s gonna try to get thrown upstairs to a Washington Cabinet job…let’s remember how he fined us, taxed us and stopped our ambulances from having toll free pass.

Yeah Mayor Mike, we know who you are, and what you do.

HATZOLAH- you need to contact the other organizations that this will impact!! For example, all of the little volunteer town ambulances in NJ occasionally take patients to NYC. Call the NJ State First Aid Council (the group that represents volunteer EMS in NJ) as well as the NY Vol EMS groups, and make sure they know. These groups can use their lobbying experience.

Sorry Dreidel, I meant the guy who commented after you.

    2:18pm

The B and F ambulances make numerous transports to City hospitals every day.Th W transports are almost always to the City.

Many Cancer patients prefer City hospitals. Burn patients are txp’d to Staten Island.

The midtown bus is taken in from BP every day.

29…..The ambulances that would come in from NJ don’t use MTA bridges or tunnels. Unless they go into Brooklyn vs. Manhattan. The NJ to NY crossings are Port Authority of NY/NJ and this story refers to MTA crossings which include: Battery and Midtown Tunnels, Verazzano, Triboro, Marine Parkway & Whitestone Bridges.

I think the primary Hatzolah areas this would have the biggest effect on are B, F, RL, SI (& maybe W if they use Midtown Tunnel instead of a Bridge)

the cheap way out is hatzolah transport to the entrance of the bridge or tunnel then fdny ems take the pt across and hatzolah picks up at the other end !

Favish is the only one with common sense. Where are our State representatives on this? Where are the Jewish leaders? I forgot, our Jewish leaders are too busy making enemies with the republicans (maybe Hillary will help them now?).
