Senator Bill Larkin shared news of the impending vote on Facebook this afternoon, saying that the two bills have passed the Senate’s Rules Committee and will be placed on the third reading calendar.

According to political blog State of Politics, a Larkin tweet about an update on the annexation bills was greeted with a threatening response, written in Yiddish. State Police are currently investigating the threat against the senator.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who spoke out forcefully at the public hearing last night in Kiryas Joel saying that the issue in the village is about Jews, not annexation, condemned the threat.

“There is a lot of tension on both sides but threats are inexcusable,” Hikind told VIN News.

Hikind also noted that the anonymity of a Twitter threat should raise questions about the identity of the sender and that until the facts are known it is inappropriate to jump to any conclusions about who made the threat.

“Did it come from someone within Kiryas Joel or was it the perfect setup?” queried Hikind. “There is no way to know but one thing is certain: no one should ever threaten anyone on either side.”

Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel, executive vice president of Agudah Israel of America, who also attended last night’s hearing in Kiryas Joel, said that behavior of this nature goes way beyond the pale, particularly for observant Jews.

“If anybody issued a threat against a legislator or against anybody, it is inexcusable and counterproductive to any goal,” said Rabbi Zwiebel.

Since when is cursing a threat?

If I would have the chance to speak at the public hearing in KJ, I would explain the public that the Village leaders are Not looking too much for the Benifit of the community.
2 years ago when I was a residence of the area near Bakertown and Dinev were the Big Poultry plant is located. We had during the spring and summer over a billion extra wild flies and insects all over the house day and night in a unusual way. That was caused by the Poultry plant next door which belongs in a industrial district not in a residential area.
The rules and regulations on how to zone the village is used (abused) by the Village owners for their own Benifit and that’s why annexation will only make things worse.
Let the village first take all industrial factories out of the village to a separate commercial area atleast 2 miles away from the residential area were crowded housing of infants are located, then make a public hearing.
