New York City – Politics and police vehicles are not supposed to mix, but there was a John McCain bumper sticker on a Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department cart parked at a highly visible location on Friday morning in Pennsylvania Station. City Room brought this to the attention of transportation authority officials, who alerted the police in turn. The sticker was removed quickly.

The police believe the sticker was placed on the cart by someone passing through the station, said Aaron Donovan, the deputy press secretary of the M.T.A.
“That vehicle spends a good deal of its time parked inside the concourse,” he said, “and many, many, many people walk past it. And so it’s not uncommon for various items to be found on it.”
Mr. Donovan said that authority employees are prohibited from using M.T.A. property to disseminate political opinion.
Long Island Rail Road and New York City Transit passengers, on the other hand, may not feel the same restraint.

The sad fact is that if it was an Obama sticker, nobody would give a hoot.
it’s very common in upstate ny for govt employess to put political bumper stickers on their govt issued vehicles which many are allowed to take home with them & for personal use.
