“We’ve been at the scene and looking at the substance, and taking samples of it to determine exactly what the liquid is. It appears to be some sort of transmission fluid, or some sort of liquid,” RCMP Cpl. Mike Gaudet said.

Police will review surveillance videos from the synagogue’s security cameras and also check with neighbours who may have seen something, Gaudet said.
The synagogue is open, and people entering the building are not in any danger, he said.

This comes two months after a swastika and the word “Retards” were painted on the synagogue in a rash of vandalism.

Also in early July, RCMP investigated six other acts of racist graffiti. Police at the time believed all the acts of vandalism were connected.
