Mayor Michael Bloomberg has asked city agencies to cut $500 million from their budgets this year and $1 billion next year.

Bloomberg asked his commissioners to make deep cuts in the city budget, a response to the financial crisis.

Those cuts amount to 2.5 percent of the agency budgets in the current fiscal year, which began July 1, and 5 percent of their budget next fiscal year. Agency heads will have to submit their lists of cuts to City Hall on Oct. 8.

This is Peanuts compared to overall budget.

City should cut every non essential service and only keep Police and Fire – the rest are just there to tax people and make life difficult or to curry support from different communities.

So Mikey, the city should stop paving roads, say goodbye to garbage collection, shut down the public libraries & senior centers, and no snowplowing or salting the streets come winter?

I don’t know what the answer is, and I shudder to think that Bloomberg might think about raising parking tickets/moving violations fees even more than the exorbitant amounts we’re already charged. But cutting off all services but police and fire would do far more damage and would probably bring this city to a standstill.

Mr A I have a question for you. VIN Posted before that Bloomberg wants to raise Real Estate Tax cause the City doesn’t have money, all the comments are NO WAY

Now Bloomberg says to all the agencies try cutting the budget cause we don’t have money, You say NO WAY.

How do you want all the services should stay the same and there should be no tax hikes, How is the City going to pay for the services?

Bloomberg increased the number of public relations people ten fold over Giuiliani who quadrupled them from Dinkins. There is $100 million in public relations, printing, fancy annual reports for each agency, extensive web sites for non productive agencies, etc.

let him creat a volunteer Police Dept., like we have already in most places in the country volunter Fire and EMS and it works great, every community should provide the services for their area, give the volunters a tax break etc., and it will work.

We will reduce the burden of NYC Police giving excess tickets, will reduce seeing fireman doing nothing most of the day, will reduce seeing EMS workers literally sleeping in their ambulances parked in the parking lots of White Castle Mcdonalds On the Run etc, and boy will we get out of debt fast.

Instead use the money to CREATE manufacturing jobs with labels proudly made in New York ! boy will those be great times.

Lets open a new phone line for emplyment like 511 were anybody looking for employment can get one, bring back manufacturing from overseas so wecan give work to Americans.

Before I forget slash the millions of dollars paid annualy to MTA bosses for doing nothing – and so you will be able to reduce the bus and train fares to $1.00 – and lastly slash the Section 8 program so the housing prices will come down crashing like a roller coaster so people who actually go OUT TO WORK EVERYDAY can afford to buy a piece of property and their dream home, and for those not working yeah lets not forget about them build new apartment projects and let them live there for free not in brand new squeachy clean houses while the working guy has to live in a basement because he cant afford the rent while that lazy bum lives a fantasy life paid by the City.

Nice dream, now lets go back to snoring for another 20 years.
