Brooklyn, NY – New York State Senator Eric Adams sponsored the 2008 Brooklyn High Holy Days Religious Institutions Safety Debriefing (BHHDRISD) on Wednesday, September 24, 10:00 AM, at The Brooklyn Jewish Children’s Museum. He was joined by officers of the NYPD and by members of their NYPD teams to provide an overview of the procedures implemented by the police to safeguard both our religious institutions and our community during this very special time of year. The meeting clarified the significant NYPD arrangements to afford citizens an opportunity to understand and appreciate them. Forum attendees were provided an opportunity to voice specific concerns and share general feedback.

Senator Adams states: “Team Adams extends its best wishes to the Jewish community for the upcoming holiday season. NYPD has a stellar history of superb job performance in safeguarding religious institutions and communities during the High Holy Days. To ensure that everyone understands the magnitude of the significant procedures undertaken to protect religious organizations and the entire community, my office will operate in conjunction with the NYPD to provide an overview of the Brooklyn plan.”
Senator Adams further states: “Communication is an essential ingredient in a positive relationship between an agency of law enforcement and the citizenry it serves and protects. BHHDRISD explains NYPD implementation of security measures that reflect the paramount significance of the High Holy Days to the community observing them and facilitates a dialogue and an understanding between that community and its police department.
Senator Adams concludes: “I am proud to sponsor an event that brings together like-minded elected officials, NYC police personnel, and leaders of the community, such as Assemblyman Karim Camara, Councilperson Letitia James, Chief Douglas Zeigler, Deputy Inspector John Corbisiero 90 Precinct, Deputy Inspector Peter Simonetti, 71st Precinct Council President Carl Cohen, Vice President Crown Heights Community Council Chanina Sperlin, Rabbi Niederman, Rabbi Glantz, Rabbi Abe Friedman, Chief Adviser to the Senator, Joel Friedman, Joel Eisdorfer, and Rabbi Moshe Indig, to name a few.”
