GLOBES.co.il (http://bit.ly/1UF91K5) reports that the approximately 457 scheduled Thursday flights will add to what forecasters are predicting will be a record for the month of August, with close to 2-million passengers boarding incoming and outgoing flights out of Ben Gurion.
Industry insiders say that the driving force behind the increased traffic is the EU Open Skies agreement which has broadened the rang of carrier, resulting in more competitive low-cost flight options.
Due to increased traffic, the Israel Airports Authority is strongly recommending that travelers arrive at least three-hours before departure time, and that they check-in and print-out their boarding passes before heading to Ben Gurion.
