Washington - Sen. John McCain’s 2006 demand for regulatory action on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could have prevented current financial crisis, as HUMAN EVENTS learned from the letter shown in full text below.

McCain’s letter—signed by nineteen other senators—said that it was “...vitally important that Congress take the necessary steps to ensure that [Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac]...operate in a safe and sound manner.[and]..More importantly, Congress must ensure that the American taxpayer is protected in the event that either…should fail.”

Sen. Obama did not sign the letter, nor did any other Democrat.

HaJew it is so nice to see your views of this great candidate for president, i would like to see you talking in a year from now when the country would be really in bad shape with this president, except if you are one of this guys living on section 8th, food stamps, medicaid and welfare and still working on cash and have some houses at your uncle's name in the other end of the world, so u don't care if this guy gets in to office you will actually benefit from his liberal views, i understand you.
But i hope and pray he should lose and you should get caught with your fraud and rot in jail because stealing from the government is stealing from the pepole that work hard for their money and pay their mortgage and has to pay higher taxes to be able to pay for your fraud.....

Anon 537,
The Republicans were not in charge all the time as you mentioned. Its nice that you want to turn the tables but I wont let you do that!

HaJew, I looked up the vote and there is no such thing. Please provide a link to the house/senate site. Certainly you have no fear of a rebutal? Perhaps you could tell me why Barak Hussein Obama votes "present," if he votes at all. I think he is missing a pair of baytzim! Perhaps you could tell me why your side constantly causes trouble for the troops. You so want to cut and run it sickens most Americans. The messiah was in the sentate for 143 days before announcing his candidacy for President. He has done NOTHING in his career worth mentioning (aside for voting to KILL babies born from botched murders er I mean abortions) and he hangs around with terrorists or otherwise dregs of society.

A Barak Hussein Obama presidency means we change the name of the country to the United Social States of America and we get to pay the IRS about 70% of our hard earned income (those of us that work for a living) in taxes.

TO ALL OF THE ABOVE POSTERS: Neither candidate is anything special, and won't do anything for us of the economy. I can't think of any other recent Presidential election where the choice was between 2 such poor candidates for the White House. Certainly, there must be others more qualified and capable, but with the tremendous cost in both money and total lack of privacy, no one wants to run.

Moishe,
Your point is well taken. No one is saying McCain is the best Republican candidate out there, thats for sure! McCain was appointed by the drive by media as the Republican of choice. I am sure Thompson would have been better but Sen Thompson seemed to have forgotten he was actually running for something. With Conservative members being the base of the Republican party, one would have hoped we would have done better.

Alas John McCain is at the top of the ticket and he is SO much better than Osama Obama so he needs to be supported. Perhaps something good can come out of this and McCain (if he IYH wins) would serve only one term with Palin as well as other Conservatives then running in 2012.

This election is more an anti-Obama vote rather than a McCain vote.

Obama's going to do to the US (and the rest of the world) what Dinkins did to N.Y. Remember the libral voters then said lets give him a chance what could happen? This time blacks and muslems will be saying its get whity time. The last time we had a tax and spend president right after a depression was the time of the great depretion. Remember when Chirchel sat down and spoke to Hitler iinstead of taking action? Hey, I realy hope I'm wrong.

"Mark Levin,"
Hmm, the letter is dated 5/5/06, which was during the term of the 109th Congress. During the 109th Congress, the House of Representatives had a Republican majority, the United States Senate had a Republican majority, and as we all know, the great George W. Bush was in the White House.

You don't call that being in charge?

Alas you are just average... nisht a groyse chuchem and nisht ah kleina tipish. Just becasue a letter is written doesnt mean anything would have been done that you would see. I do beleive they had hearings about it and that was the time that Faygie Frank made his proclamation that all was well and it was a good investment. The libs really went to town claiming how good Fannie and Freddy were so it was killed in committee or something.

I see you are still distraught over the loss of the 2000 election. Poor you! Think about it this way, we are so much better off after 8 years of President Bush than we would have been with 8 years of Algore. Just the thought of using those horrendous lighbulbs $#%$^% me off.

I was just curious enough to go back and check the letter, which was addressed to the republican leadership and signed by republican senators only. The letter is a statement of support for a bill to alter the regulatory structure governing Fannie Mae and Ginnie Mae, which mentions a worry of what might happen if they couldn't meet their obligations. It is hardly the warning that Senator McCain's partisans have made it out to be. Also, it was an obviously partisan letter, being to whom it was addressed. Finally, S 190 had no chance of passing when the letter was written; it was already dead, so the letter was nothing more than a PR stunt. Also, without looking at S 190 too closely, it is possible that the bill would have relaxed the regulation of the two mortgage corps rather than stiffened it. It would have created a new board to replace the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (giving President Bush the opportunity to appoint an entire board of anti-regulatory Republicans - something he has done consistently throughout his administration). It also would have exempted the corporation from any regulation by the SEC.

With all due respect to Mr. Levin, you obviously are not very good at looiing things up. Just because biased yeshivishe blogs like VIN who aren't ever mekabel that republicans can do the wrong thing, does not mean it actually happened, in fact twice in the last month that the mamzerim in the GOP put their own petty politics ahead of the importance of the cause of Iran.
The Iran sanctions bill was voted down and defeated twice in the house and senate by the Republicans. Why? because the bill which has been in motion for over a year and a half was originally drafted by a few democrats, principally one named Barack Obama. So why not pass it through and put sanctions on Iran? Why not do the necessary and correct thing at this time? because there was something more important for the republicans than sanctioning Iran. Petty politics.
The republicans representatives defeated the bill because they did not want to hand a legislative victory on something so important to barack obama. Y'see, it doesnt matter that it would have put sanctions on iran, or showed bipartisanship working together to do the right thing.
No, the GOP wanted to put their own petty politics ahead of the importance of the cause. They did not want to pass a necessary important bill like sanctioning iran, if it meant that Obama would have his legislation [passed so close to the election making him look good. that they couldnt stand and that was more important to them than iran sanctions. it is too bad that sites like this refuse to report news like this. (Or news like Condi Rice meeting recently with mamzer terrorist Mamma alQadaffi - for the first time ever and eating rammadan dinner with him).

Once again I ask you to please provide a link to the story you are talking about! I looked up recent votes on the congressional records and I didnt come across anything of the sort. Since you cant or wont do that, we all need to assume you are full of yourself. Or maybe it was in some other bill and this was part of the chazir stuck into the bill??

You want to talk about poltics I see, well how about Osama Hussein Obama having secret meetings with the Iraqis to determine when (or in Obama's case its how fast) the US should withdraw!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?! THAT IS SICKENING! What about the libs constantly causing trouble with the war effort??? Get your head out of your tush and maybe you will see that Obama is NOT GOOD for the country.

What about the messiah NOT visiting the troops when he was speaking the germans? He is a ROSHA!!

He is lying to you about your taxes. If you make over 42K, you are in deep doo doo according to his plan. He will talk about 250k but his miniscule voting record CLEARLY disproves that number.

There is no burden of proof on that which has actually happened.
I did indeed attempt to post several links with my previous post, but it seems the editors/moderators did not let it go through. Just because you do not know does not mean it has not happened. It is unfortunate that biased media chooses to not report or ignore certain information for whatever reason.
I do not know what you think you read where, but the fact remains that everything I said is true and happened and has been reported and documented as such.

the reason you cant find the votei s because there was no vote. after a year and half a mamzer republican senator from colarodo decided to defeat the bill because sanctioning iraq is not as important to him as making sure a bill with obama's name on it doenst get passed, even if thats the right thing to do.

All Yidden in colorado (ie denver) need to remember this when Wayne Allard is up for reelection.

Whatever Allard chooses to run for next. his term in the senate is up and he is not running again. Thats probably why the GOP let him do it - he wont have to suffer any immediate electoral consenquences for being a weasel.
