The soldiers incorporated prayers, selichot and shofar blowing in the drill, as part of their regular routine as Chareidi soldiers.

The drill took place in the “Tse’elim” base, situated in the vicinity of the Gaza Strip. The soldiers participated in special firing ranges in which there are facilities that stimulate urban warfare. In each of the tasks, the entire battalion conquered different targets. Various combatting styles were exercised during the drill, in the Gazan-like environment, with focus on urban warfare. It should be noted that the battalion finished their operational employment in the Binyamin zone, north of Jerusalem. The battalion usually carries two regimental drills a year, when the last one took place during the winter in the Jordan Valley. The battalion did not exercise in “Tse’elim” in recent years.

As the drill was completed, the battalion commander, lieu. Col. Ori Levy, thanked the soldiers, officers and NCOs and said he is proud of them, while the regimental commander added that despite the fact that the drill was difficult and intensive, the soldiers withstood it very respectfully. One of the rabbis from the “Nachal Chareidi Foundation” which escorts the soldiers during their service, concluded that “the time of Selichot and the month of Elul, deepen the motivation of the Chareidi soldiers, who are willing to protect Am Israel in every zone in which they would be posted, and in any kind of combating method”.

Hundreds of Nachal Chareidi soldiers not Chareidi soldiers. Only a tiny percentage of real Chareidim are in the army, definitely not hundreds, not even 100 and not even half of that.

These are REAL Chareidim who have the mesiras nefesh to risk their lives to protect all Israelis. These are not the drek you see walking around in Meah Sheaarim who spit on some IDF chayal who walks through their neighborhood in a uniform. As we approach the yamim noraim, we should daven that the Ebeshter protect these brave young soldiers of the Netsach Yehudah battalion and all the other brave young men and women of the IDF and strike down those so called Chareidim and the rabbonim who incite them in their hatred of the medinah and those who protect all of us.

G d bless these men and all IDF and all US armed forces and all good people fighting against evil and terror. These are true frum Jews and to those who deny it – the percentage of haredim who are joining is growing.
And #7 , if frum Jews can leave the army non-religious after 2 years of service (and in a place where they are never more than a bus ride from home or a shul or a home that would take them in), then there is something wrong with their educational institutions and their families. I know frum US Army soldiers who have no problem with being religious even in Afghanistan!
This is why you fear the IDF: you know the corruption of ideas would lead to mass defections. My friend in a very haredi part of Israel told me that a lot of his neighbors do not let their kids ride bikes for fear of the power/happiness/freedom it would give them. Now I believe it. A week away from this social pressure and their kids would be on the beach of Tel Aviv eating ham sandwiches on shabbos.
