Brooklyn – B&H Workers Seek To Unionize Citing Lengthy Record Of Unfair Treatment

    Brooklyn, NY – Citing a lengthy track record of negligence and unfair treatment of employees, reps for the United Steelworkers union filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board on Tuesday requesting that a vote be taken among B&H Photo Video workers to determine if they want the Steelworkers to represent them in their move to unionize.

    NYTIMES.com (http://nyti.ms/1LbfwjX) reports that the petition is the latest step in a series of moves by B&H worker reps who claim that the Brooklyn institution’s largely Hispanic workforce has been exploited and discriminated against for quite some time.

    On Sunday, 300 people assembled outside B&H’s Ninth Avenue and 34th Street store as Steelworker reps dropped off a letter addressed to B&H owner Herman Schreiber and CEO and president Sam Goldstein requesting that the Steelworkers be allowed to act as the “sole and exclusive bargaining representative of the employees.”

    One thing I can say its a very small minded old fashioned jewish mentality. Even white collar works have to check in with a time card. Outgoing phone calls are montiored and they still charge ten cents to make those calls. Really in the 21st century you still monitor outgoing calls? Most websites are banned to access. I don’t just mean prosta porn. Even kosher websites are banned. Again hello this is the 21st century. Here is a more mature corpoarte approach. A manager gives you work that should consume your entire work day. How and when you do it is up to you. But as long as you meet your deadline and your work is good, I don’t care what you do while working. This is not a kindergarden class.

    Thank you # 7. BTW, unions have every right to collective bargaining [the right to free speech, assemble, petition] but only represent 10% of the labor force. Days of mafia running unions are from 1960&#8 217;s movies, get with it #8 . Corps move to Red China to pay workers 5 cents an hour, no safety or environmental regs, all commie corruption. You must like that&#8 230;
