The decision to provide Nechama Rivlin with guards was made following a situational assessment in light of the recent wave of attacks by Palestinian assailants in Jerusalem.

Despite her husband’s high-profile position, Nechama Rivlin was wont to wander around the streets of the capital on her own, even doing her own shopping and visiting nearby museums. In light of the uptick in violence, she will now be accompanied by an armed bodyguard.
