New York, NY - A new report by Comptroller Scott Stringer says that personal injury claims against the New York City Police Department have declined sharply.

The report, which was issued Wednesday, shows that claims against the NYPD have fallen nearly 13 percent during the past year.

Stringer on Wednesday praised the department for emphasizing a culture of restraint for its officers.

The ClaimStat report also found that the number of claims have fallen against the Development of Environmental Protection and the Parks Department.

Claims against the city’s hospital corporation and the Sanitation Department have increased, however.

The city budget for fiscal year 2016 sets aside $710 million to pay settlements and judgments from lawsuits filed against the city.

Nov 05, 2015 at 09:14 PM same result as having less cops Says:

A 13% drop in cases might also have resulted from our having 50% less ACTIVE police officers.
Whether it is condoned or not NYC Police are learning that you put in the time and retire. making any effort to fight crime will lead to arrests and after every arrest someone will claim brutality. The Commisioner stated very clearly that if you want to avoid brutality DO NOT VIOLENTLY RESIST ARREST.
