The world first came to know “Baby Moshe,” or little Moishe Holtzberg, in November 2008 after the brutal slaying of his parents, Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg, directors of the Chabad House in Mumbai, India.

Seven years later, Moshe, who is almost 9, lives in Afula, Israel, with his maternal grandparents—Rabbi Shimon and Yehudit Rosenberg. Surrounded by family, he is said to be a happy, healthy boy.

The world will once again get to know Moshe when he leads thousands of Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries from around the world and their guests in the recitation of Tehillim (Psalms) in Hebrew during the Nov. 8 gala dinner that concludes nearly a week of workshops, programs, a communal Shabbat dinner and more as part of the annual International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries (Kinus Hashluchim). Moshe will participate along with many other boys in simultaneous Kinus programs for children.

It was just days before Moshe’s second birthday when terrorists stormed the Chabad House in Mumbai, taking the toddler, his parents and several tourists hostage on Nov. 26. Moshe’s nanny, Sandra Samuel, was also in the building but had managed to hide in a room downstairs. She emerged only when she heard Moshe’s cries and found him standing between his parents’ bodies. Without thinking, she grabbed him and ran, reciting Psalm 23 as she fled the building, which was known as the “Nariman House.”

In addition to his role at the gala, Moshe will participate along with many other boys in simultaneous Kinus programs for children.

Two-year-old Moshe Holtzberg's cries while being carried by domestic help during a condolence prayer meeting in a synagogue, for those killed by armed militants at a Jewish centre in 'Nariman House' in Mumbai December 1, 2008.

He looks so much like Rivky HY”D. He is growing up in the ways of his parents, who were exemplary Shluchim. Their Yerusha to the world.

I think this is child abuse! hasn’t Moshe been thru enough ? he’s been more than taken care of until now , why interrupt that ? why bring up memories that he does not remember? let him b a child 4 as long as he can … when he gets older and wants to speak he will not now , whoever thought of this , shame on them ! shame ….
