RECORDONLINE.com (http://bit.ly/1PlIH8c) reports that the New York State Police Regional Crime Lab is poised to take over the old lab’s forensic caseload, including thousands of narcotics, drug and drunk driving, and evidence-based submissions.
The regional location of the new $10M, 10,000-square-foot facility will result in a reduction of time spent by state police officers acting as couriers in the process of transporting case submissions to the old lab, a reduction State Police Superintendent Joseph D’Amico said will benefit local communities.
“Agencies don’t have to spend that time commuting,” said D’Amico. “Deputies and officers are in their communities, on patrol.”
