West Babylon, NY – A mother who crashed on the Southern State Parkway in West Babylon died after being struck by another vehicle as she returned to her overturned car.

State police tell Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1XC4YOt ) that 25-year-old Brittany Leith struck the center median and flipped her car at 4 a.m. Sunday.
Police say the North Babylon woman climbed out of her vehicle and was helped by other motorists to the shoulder of the roadway.
As she returned to the vehicle to possibly retrieve items, police say she was then struck and killed by a passing motorist.
A state police vehicle that had arrived on the scene was also struck from behind by an SUV. The officer was hospitalized but is expected to be OK.
Police continue to investigate the accident.

After an accident people often are bewildered. If you are ever in a situation like that take care of yourself and other victims who my not be in the right frame of mind.
Also, too may people exceed the speed limit , which is probably why the police vehicle was hit.
