Brooklyn, NY – It was an unlucky day for the driver of an approximately 20 foot long box truck in Brooklyn who made the mistake of violating several rules of the road in front of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Police said that the mayor and his detail were stopped at Avenue P and E. 18th Street in Flatbush at 11:30 this morning when they saw a box truck making a delivery, traveling east in the westbound lanes and running a red light.
According to The Daily News, de Blasio was actually in the crosswalk when the driver whose license bore the name Franky Matarrese failed to yield to the mayor, a violation of city law. The mayor’s detail was sitting in the black SUV that is used to ferry de Blasio around the city when the infractions occurred and they pulled the white graffiti-scrawled truck over.
Matarrese’s license does not entitle him to operate a vehicle of that size and the truck also had improper license plates. The driver, who claimed he was not Matarrese, was slapped with a total of 13 summonses including driving the wrong way on a two way street, running a red light and failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
According to the driver, he was parked facing the wrong way on Avenue P because he was unloading boxes from his truck when he was confronted by the mayor’s crew.
“I didn’t do anything bad,” said the driver.
