Jerusalem, Israel – MK Yakov Litzman, a representative of the Ger Hassidim in the United Torah Judaism party was attacked Saturday evening by orthodox Jews belonging to the Slonim sect, shortly after arriving at a family celebration at a compound belonging to Slonim in Meah Shearim.

Allegedly, a group of Slonim hassidic Jews threw kugel pies at Litzman, pushed and kicked him and tauntingly threw his hat over his head.
The attack apparently comes on the heels of the Ger sect’s rejection of Meir Porush’s mayoral candidacy. Porush lost the rest to investor Nir Barkat, who was elected Jerusalem mayor on Tuesday.
The Slonim spiritual leader told his disciples that he will not see any of them privately before they apologize to Litzman.
Litzman expressed sorrow for the fact that “a wild bunch from a hassidic sect to which I have helped in the past and will continue to help, have behaved inappropriately.” Litzman nevertheless praised the Slonim Rabbi.
The MK is expected to give police the names of the men who attacked him on Sunday.

I was there in Slonim by the kiddush, it was not half as bad as the article states. Litzman was very disrespectful to the Slonimer Rebbi by saying “I don’t care what The Slonimer Rebbi says I can eat him with my pita and falfel” so a few bochrim “hot heads” shoved him around when he came to Slonim as an unwanted guest. If someone would have made a similar remark about the Gerer Rebbi and than steped into Ger, he wouldn’t have made it out alive! Litzman deserved much more than he got for his arrogance and total disreguard of the kovad of REAL Gedolei Yisroel.
