The incident took place on December 14th at 4 PM at the intersection of Morris Avenue and East 182nd Street, two blocks west of the Grand Concourse.

Three men, ages, 26, 29 and 47, who were riding in a light colored 2009 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, surrendered their vehicle after they were surrounded by four men wearing what appeared to be police shields and protective vests.

The quartet, who had arrived on scene in a black four door sedan which had pulled up behind the minivan, identified themselves as police officers and instructed the three men to step out of their car.

One of the four suspects drove off in the minivan. The other three suspects left the scene in their car, stranding the occupants of the minivan at the Bronx intersection.

The four suspects are described as Hispanic, between 20 to 35 years old, with medium builds and ranging from 5’6 to 6 feet tall. All four were dressed in baseball caps with some wearing shirts or sweatshirts over their vests.

Police told VIN News that the incident has been under investigation by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau because the suspects impersonated police officers.

Detectives at the 46th precinct released footage of the crime to the public early this morning and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspects, who are wanted for criminal impersonation of a police officer and robbery.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS or to text 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577. Tips can also be submitted at the Crime Stoppers website www.NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
