In a statement posted on Facebook, police said that according to “serious information, there could be an attack tonight.”
The warning came about an hour before the city rang in the new year.
Police said they had received two different, “concrete” tips but did not elaborate on the nature of the threat or who had warned them.
Police in Munich did not immediately answer their phones.
German news agency dpa reported that both train stations had been evacuated and that trains would no longer stop there.
Police asked people to avoid large crowds outside less than an hour before midnight, when Germans usually gather outside to welcome the new year with fireworks.
So the terrorists will just move their location, now that they know Germany is on to them.
