New York – In one of the nation’s largest displays of support for alternative life style, tens of thousands of people in cities across the country turned out in support of same gender marriage on Saturday.

It was the second major protest within days in New York.

Democratic congressman Anthony Weiner, who is seen as a possible challenger to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, told the rally he would push for same-sex marriage to be introduced to New York. “America is not the country we should be until we overturn things like Proposition 8,” said Mr Weiner, who was introduced as a “straight ally of marriage equality”.

“We are not going to rest until every citizen in every state in our country has the right to stand up and say this is the man or woman in the form of marriage,” he said

Does he really want to bring down this country? We just read about Sidom and Amorah yesterday.

Politically speaking, I have no problem with a secular society giving certain privileges (joint-filing status) to roommates who can prove they share expenses, etc. But toeva unions are not marriage. Period.

Toeva unions certainly not good for “their” kids, either, so I don’t know why he’s looking to legalize state-sanctioned child-endangerment, because that’s basically what it boils down to, if either one of the pair decide to actually have kids.

The man knows nothing about the law in this country. There is something called a VOTE BT THE PEOPLE and in CA the PEOPLE voted. Unlike most people on this blog, I actually read the prop and what was going to happen. They were going to do away with ALL mentions of HUSBAND & WIFE and replace with other terms.

Weiner MUST be stopped & furthermore, if he supports this kind of stuff, Y’ALL BETTER NOT ELECT HIM!

    Dear Mr. Weiner;

I believe strongly that all men are created equal. It is true that that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Is the acceptence of gay marriage into society, one of these rights?
When do we stop at the “pursuit of happiness”? Do we stop at underage marriage? After all just because someones 16, does that mean they dont have any rights?
There is a book that is the code of law, to 2/3 of the world. In this book of Leviticis chapter 18 verse 24 it states; “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman, for it is an abomination.”
These words were spoken by G-d, not by Thomas Jefferson (who borrowed it from an Italian friend, Philip Mazzei). If you want us voters to consider you a product of G-d, and not an abomination I suggest you retract your statements.

I think America is in a grave dangerous situation. States that want to emulate Sedom and Amorah might not escape Hashem’s wrath…

WHY? I’m sure that the majority ogf NY voters don’t favor such a outrageous proposal. It’s just the small vocal minority that participate in these immoral activities. Maybe, since the Congressman never married, he has no clue about the meaning and sanctity of marriage.

He probably had my vote against Bloomberg until this.

    Sodom voted NO on 8.

for a liberal, it’s all about the will of the people – but of course that’s only if they agree with the people.

Why narrow minded & blind people can’t see the obvious surprises me. We live in a democracy. So abortion is legal as is homosexuality. Additionally, although a strong argument can be made against it, I understand it if gay people wish to have the same rights as married couples, e.g. medical “spouse” benefits, tax benefits, etc.

But to demand that they have the right to call themselves “married”, and that we have to call them “husband & wife” or whatever, is ridiculous. They want our “Haskamah” that they are just like a man & his wife? What arrogance. What if we pass a law that forces us to call them “sir” because we respect their deviant lifestyle. Ridiculous. Once we give them all rights they shouldn’t have the nerve to ask for marriage licenses. What nexy? Why not a brother & sister or son & mother who want a marriage license? How about pets?

I’ll vote for William Thompson ( Black) who’s a real decent honest guy or Christine Quinn (Gay) who is highly intelligent & seems like a decent enough woman.

Mike??? Never in a million years. I’d rather not vote & I ALWAYS vote.

#42 I agree with you. They just want it to be called a “MARRIAGE” which it isn’t and will not be happy even if they’ll have equal rights. “Arrogance” is the perfect word you used to describe them with..
