(Hillel Maeir/TPS)Jerusalem – After significant levels of cooperation and coordination between the Israel Security Agency (ISA), Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and the Israel Police, at least 16 terrorists from the Palestinian village of Kharbatha al-Misbah located next to Route 443 northwest of Jerusalem were arrested for throwing Molotov cocktails and rocks at Israeli vehicles on the highway.

Some of the suspects were previously arrested for similar terror activity, but returned to throwing Molotov cocktails shortly after their release. They even escalated some of their attacks by causing more damage than before to Israeli vehicles driving along the highway.

The ISA’s investigation of the detainees revealed that the suspects engaged in violence against civilian vehicles on the road and against IDF forces near the village. Two of the detainees, Souheib Yusuf Maslah and Bilal Muhammad Abed Kasbah, ran an organized network of terrorists planning to commit the attacks.

The investigation also revealed that minors have increasingly been involved in such terrorist activity.

Indictments were recently filed against the suspects in a military court in Judea with a special request that they remain detained at least until the end of legal proceedings.

In light of Route 443’s importance to many Israelis traveling between Jerusalem and the greater Tel Aviv area, Israeli security forces have been stepping up their efforts in thwarting Molotov cocktail attacks on the route.
