New York, NY – Brooklyn Lawmaker Wants To Ease Parking Around Film Shoots

New York, NY – A Brooklyn lawmaker says many film shoots in New York City get special parking permits for trucks, lifts, cranes, rest rooms and campers, sending residents down nearby streets to hunt for spaces.

In an effort to ease the pressure, Assemblyman Joseph Lentol says he’ll introduce legislation to suspend alternate-side parking rules within a six-block radius on days of permitted film shoots.

Filming forces residents to compete with neighbors on adjacent streets for parking spots.

Lentol says that pressure is compounded by enforced rules for parking on alternate sides of the street depending on the day.

The Democrat says North Brooklyn, which he represents, is one of the hottest filming areas. He says the industry brings economic benefits and the temporary parking changes should help protect his constituents’ life styles.

I wish they eliminate alternate side parking altogether, maybe then the streets will be not so greasy caused by the sanitation trucks .

A brilliant idea. They always seem to film on ASP days.

    I have a better idea!
there are rule sin place, including no personal parking for film employees, only production vehicles. Try to get this enforced! The police will laugh at you and the Mayor’s Office for film will ignore your call till weeks later.
The solution is to have the Mayor’s Office told that they operate for the citizens of NYC and must help enforce the rules.

I have followed this issue for decades. The Mayor’s office for film seems to operate with the understanding that they are untouchable, no limits. The permits are issued or rubber stamped by 20 year old employees that only care about the film industry.
    DOCUMENT every situation and,
    1, Report it to 311
2, Report it to the Mayos Office via online forms
3, Immediately involve a local polotician.
They will eventually understand that rules need to be obeyed.
