Dozens of sanitation workers and residents were sorting through masses of rubbish in the capital for a diamond ring that was accidentally tossed in the garbage.

A local woman notified the driver of a municipal garbage truck after realizing that her NIS 30,000 ring had mistakenly gone out with the trash from her house. The woman convinced the driver to stop the vehicle and unload the haul.

The ring’s owner offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who found the “blinged” band.

Sad but doesn’t her actions translate into bitul torah since these guys could be learning/shteiging at the beis medrash rather than dumpster diving.

Must be some rock! I lost my wedding band 35 years ago they are only things. Still I hope she finds it & it is very nice of all those kolel guys to get down & dirty in the stinky Jerusalem garbage. Beats sitting over a Gemmorah any day.

If they could afford that kind of ring, they should’ve had insurance for it.

The garbage was split up between some 25-30 people who took it home to look through it with their families. They promise to return the garbage to the streets after they finish going through it….
