Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police spokesman Joe Pentangelo says 21-year-old DeAndre Camacho was arrested Thursday and charged with theft and criminal mischief.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 4.

Pentangelo said FedEx personnel called police to their facility at the airport after Camacho allegedly was caught bringing a cellphone out through security that he hadn’t brought in.

Witnesses said Camacho had hidden other phones outside to pick up later. Police said five phones were recovered.

A FedEx spokeswoman said the company is cooperating with authorities.

It wasn’t known if Camacho had retained an attorney, and a phone listing could not be found under his name.
