Jerusalem – Widow Of Late Meir Kahane Outraged Over Grandson’s Detention Says Israel Turning Into Totalitarian State

    10

FILE - Meir Ettinger, grandson of Rabbi Meir Kahane, seen at Magistrate's court in the Northern Israeli city of Nazareth on August 04, 2015. Flash90Jerusalem – The imprisonment of my grandson Meir Ettinger brings back difficult memories for me. I don’t know how many people remember that my late husband Rabbi Meir Kahane, zt”l was jailed under those same despicable administrative detention orders in May 1980.

An administrative detention order deprives a person of his basic rights. He can be held for six months without being charged or tried and the order can be renewed indefinitely.

If there were any evidence that my grandson Meir committed a crime, he should be put on trial in open court. He has not been tried in court because he has not committed any crime.

What he has done is not considered a crime in any democratic country. He expressed unpopular views in a blog he wrote on the Hebrew website “Hakol Hayehudi.” Simply put, the powers-that-be don’t like the way he thinks. When his case came to court for review after his first three months in prison, the judge ordered his imprisonment continued. The reason he gave was that Meir had not changed his views. The Honenu lawyer said, “If the judge wants him to change his opinions, he can send him to Korea, there they know how to make people change their opinions.”

The administrative order imprisoning Meir can be renewed by the simple signature of the Minister of Defense for another six months, and another and another – life imprisonment by installments.

Is Israel turning into a totalitarian state? What is happening to our beloved Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East? Please, Mr. Ya’alon, stop issuing these orders!

With two weeks left of the six months decreed by Defense Minister Ya’alon, my grandson Meir began a hunger strike on Wednesday, January 20. I hope and pray it will succeed in touching the hearts of the powers that be, but what will it do to Meir’s health?

Libby (Blum) Kahane is the wife of late Rabbi Meir Kahana.

Unfortunately controling freedom of speech and media control is part of every democratic government policy, israel being no different, however in this case it seems someone in the far left has an agenda, since he’s part of the Kahane family, even though in light of the daily stabbings every level headed person now realizes that Meir Kahane predicted decades ago that unless we buy out the Arabs post haste after the 67 war, the time will come when there is no turning back except with the coming of the Mashiach. Meir Kahana actually had a clairvoyant perception of the future of Israel, unfortunately, and so did the previous Satmar rebbi over 65 years ago call the shot! Hopefully with China stepping up to the plate and taking a proactive position in the middle east as was demonstrated by Xi Jinpings visit to the region this past week, the stage is being set, and China has the merits for harboring the Mirrer yeshiva during the war, and saving 20000 jews, thus putting them in position perhaps to play the role of honest broker in the middle east, using their economic clout and level headed policies, knowing darn well how to uproot and obliterate terrorism, which was high on Xi Jinpings agenda.

Shouldn’t the headline refer to the widow of rabbi kahane, not wife of rabbi kahane?

I remember R. Meir Kahane; he was a good man who wanted the best for the Jews. His crime was that he was outspoken about it and did not cover up his true intentions as most politicians do.

It is a shame that the state continues to hold his grandson in detention over no crime that they can prove him guilty of. He deserves to be free to continue his life as a free man in a free (?) state….

Administrative detention is a relic of the British mandate; EY should have abolished that system decades ago. It was bad enough when the British used it against Jews. Now, Jews are using it against other Jews! The only other countries which use such a system are totalitarian regimes.

We should daven for this poor boy who is being tortured daily and denied the right to wear tefillin. We should also daven for all Yidden serving in the IDF to do teshuva and quit serving under the evil Yaalon.
