State police say the two-vehicle accident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday in a southbound lane in Elizabeth.

Officials say 25-year-old Vincent Harrison got out of one of the cars and was on the side of the highway when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The New York Police Department says Harrison was assigned to the 100th Precinct in Queens. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was driving one the vehicles involved in the crash.

The driver of the car that hit the man fled the scene and has not been located.

The cause of the initial accident remains under investigation.

While his death is a tragedy, there were another three people killed (and many more injured) in “hit and runs” in NYC in the past 24 hours.
If this person had been a cook, or barber, or bus driver, would you be posting the story?

With all the cameras being installed to monitor traffic, etc. across the state, I hope one was aimed at the car and license plate of the hit-and-run driver and they catch him/her.
