Police said the bus that crashed was from Egged’s Line 101 that left at 7:50 p.m. traveling from Haifa’s Hacarmel Beach to Lev Hamifratz. Police corned off entry and exit to the tunnel roads, solely permitting rescue vehicles access to the scene.

The Carmel Tunnels, also known as Route 23, are a set of roads whose purpose is to reduce road congestion in the Haifa area.
