Brooklyn, NY – Officials say a second New York City Board of Elections official has been suspended over problems reported at polling sites during the state’s presidential primary.

A board of elections spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday that the deputy chief clerk in Brooklyn, Democrat Betty Ann Canizio-Aqil, was suspended without pay “pending an investigation.”
In April, the Republican chief clerk in Brooklyn, Diane Hasslet-Rudiano, was suspended pending what officials said was an internal probe into “the administration of the voter rolls.”
New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman launched an investigation after a state voter hotline received more than 700 complaints. There were reports that some voters were turned away.
New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer also said he would audit the board.
The board has said it would cooperate with both inquiries.
