U.S. officials said Monday that the money will be used over five years to provide basic humanitarian assistance and create jobs. The money will be distributed by the U.S Agency for International Development in partnership with Catholic Relief Services.
The U.S. Consul General in Jerusalem, Donald A. Blume, said the effort is meant to address “the dire needs that are obvious in Gaza.”
Gaza’s economy has sharply declined since the Islamic militant group Hamas took over the coastal territory nearly a decade ago. Unemployment there is estimated to be over 40 percent.
The U.S. considers Hamas a terror organization and has no official relations with the group.
That’ll buy a lot of tunnel building cement. Smart ole USA.
and yet all the liberal commentators here will say Obama is pro-Israel, remember Gaza needs fixing due to attacking Jews.
“to provide basic humanitarian assistance and create jobs”
Let’s translate. To fund the building of tunnels, armaments, and weapons – fully aware that these will not be used for defense or protection but to murder innocent Israelis. Thanks, Obama. We always knew you were a terror supporter. I would hope the first weapon gets aimed at you, BHO.
Great. Another $50 million poured (literally) into Hamas attack tunnels and rockets.
It appears our dangerous, traitorous, muslim president is going to push through as many muslim-benefitting actions (Iran deal, recent announcement on pressuring Israel on settlements, etc.) as he can before he thankfully leaves the White House! This menuval zohl gein kakken oifen yam!
First let their arab brothers pay up what the have promised to gaza.
How about some money for all the Jews who were left homeless and jobless and whose synagogues were destroyed in the “peace” made for the Gaza?
