Obama, in an interview with BuzzFeed news website broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube, said schools had been asking the Department of Education how they should handle questions they were facing with transgender youths.

“We think it was important for schools who want to go ahead and, in a very practical way, try to deal with the school year – What are they going to be doing next year? How should we approach this? – that we give them our best judgment about how to approach it,” Obama said.

The Obama administration told U.S. public schools on Friday that transgender students must be allowed to use the bathroom of their choice, upsetting Republicans and raising the likelihood of fights over federal funding and legal authority.

The Education and Justice Departments told school districts nationwide that while the guidance carries no legal weight, they must not discriminate against students, including based on their gender identity.

Obama, who has two teenaged daughters, elaborated on the decision.

“We’re talking about kids. And anybody who’s been in school, been in high school, who’s been a parent, I think, should realize that kids who are sometimes in the minority, kids who have a different sexual orientation or are transgender are subject to a lot of bullying, potentially,” Obama said.

“They are vulnerable. And I think that it’s part of our obligation as a society to make sure that everybody is treated fairly and our kids are all loved and that they’re protected and that their dignity is affirmed,” he said.

Just another in a long list of highly stupid moves by the affirmative action- president that Trump will have to undo.

I’ve never seen information as to how many of these “transgender” people there are of school age. It could be an uproar over a dozen or so nationwide.

When I grew up, such “children” didn’t exist. We also didn’t have ADHD kids needing Ritalin either. Nor the swelling number of autistic children, nebach. I’m sure this whole thing is a genetic mutation resulting from the crazy GMO foods brought to us by ADM and Monsanto!

“…Kids who have a different sexual orientation or are transgender are subject to a lot of bullying, potentially.”

Just like transgender people could potentially be going into the restrooms of their choice to molest cisgendered occupants, the bullying Obama’s complaining about is also, he admits, merely a potential. Both sides of the political spectrum seem to be basing their concerns on mere potentials.

If privacy in the bathroom and showers is no longer respected, and biological gender does does not matter, to accommodate the sensetivities of transgender, I wish to propose the the next progression.
What What if nudists want to ne respected and accepted, and wish to work in schools and federal buildings without clothes?
According to Obama Obama we would ne violating their civil rights too, if if we restricted them to wearing clothes clothes at clothes at the work place.
Maybe a compromise, the requirement ro wear a necktie

I was born in 1958. One of my classmates in high school was born with both sets of plumbing. All the boy thought she was a girl, but my wife says all the girls knew and kept the secret. Before graduation, in 1976, her family moved away. Those in on the secret figure she decided to be a boy instead.

Birth defects like this happen everywhere. How would such a person be dealt with in the Orthodox community?

To #14 -Excellent posting! I really got a chuckle about your solution of allowing nudists to wear a necktie to work, as that seems to be a logical compromise. I’m sure that our esteemed and distinguished President would agree.
