As previously reported on VIN News(http://goo.gl/JkhnTA), Hatzolah members rushed to 200 Wallabout Street just before 8 PM, desperately trying to save the life of Shimon Yisroel Meisels, grandson of the Shopron Rov of Williamsbug, Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Meisels. He later died at Brooklyn Hospital Center.

The Meisels family had recently moved into the six story building.

“It’s a wonderful, very, very special family,” said one neighbor to the NY Daily News who asked to remain anonymous. “Everybody’s asking why this is happening, why this has happened and we don’t understand the way G-d governs the world. It’s a tremendous tragedy.”

Sam Zupnick, who lived next door, said that the five year old’s parents were exceptionally loving and unusually devoted to their children.

“I never saw such care in parents,” said Zupnick.

Zupnick described Shimon Meisels as “a very, very cute, beautiful kid.”

The funeral took place today at 1 PM outside the Shopron Shul on Hewes Street, which overflowed with grieving mourners whose faces registered shock and disbelief that such a young life had been cut so tragically short.

Shimon Meisels will be buried this afternoon at the Vizhnitzer cemetery in Monsey.
