Manhattan, NY - NYPD officers tackled a seemingly oblivious Citi Bike rider as he approached a police line set up to protect President Obama’s motorcade in Manhattan Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Daniel Provencio, 59, was headed south on Park Avenue towards East 50th Street around 6 p.m. moments before Obama’s motorcade was set to pass by.

Frantic officers can be heard yelling at the bonehead biker to stop and get off the bike but he didn’t respond quickly enough, causing an officer to run over and tackle him, video shows.

Obama’s motorcade rolled past during the arrest.

Provencio was issued a summons for disorderly conduct, police said.

On what grounds, disobeying police whilst they were out there to protect the president of the USA, don't think so.

To #2- Look, there is no proof that this bicyclist even knew that Obama's motorcade, was proceeding in close proximity to where he was biking. This is not the first time that there has been a foul-up, regarding a President's motorcade. Back in 1976, in Connecticut, Gerald Ford's limousine was proceeding down a main street. All of a sudden, a car which was legally proceeding down a side street (and who had the right of way), accidentally collided with Ford's limo, at a perpendicular angle. Ford was shaken up; in the meantime, the Secret Service came out of the car with their guns drawn. The motorist was taken out of his car and detained. However, he was not arrested, since the Secret Service realized that they had forgotten to tell local authorities to close off the street, where the President's motorcade was proceeding. In this particular case, the cops were right in detaining the motorist. However, he should not have been issued a summons for disorderly conduct. He should have been told that he was in a restricted area, and released. The cops merely issued a summons to cover their tracks, in knocking him off his bicycle.

he didn't deserve to get beat up and knocked down like an animal.
how did he get in there in the first place? why wasn't he stopped a block before?
slowly but surely all those aggressive officers learn the hard way. because you wear a badge and a gun doesn't give you the right to beat some one for no reason.
They could of stopped him and turn him back.

From your comments I take it you watched the videos. From the time the bike was stopped 7 seconds passed until the police and President drove by. You would allow a biciclist to drive unimpeded? Your lack of judgement as to police action is laughable. As to street thugs where do you get that? It seems that the man was detained and nothing else. You allow your prejudices against police overcome any good sense you might have

it seems from the 3 cops in the beginning that the NYPD has a minimum weight limit of 250 pounds.
