American Airlines operates Terminal 8. It said Tuesday that escalators and elevators were out of service.

The airline says screening of checked bags might be delayed. It’s encouraging travelers to arrive at least two hours prior to departure.

There’s no word so far on what caused the power outage.

On Sunday night, a report of gunfire at the terminal led to a panicked evacuation of the airport. That scare started in Terminal 8 and led to Terminal 1. Authorities are exploring the possibility that loud, boisterous cheering of Usain (yoo-SAYN’) Bolt’s Olympic 100-meter dash victory prompted the scare.
