Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the funding for the five parks on Thursday. They are St. Mary’s Park in the
Bronx, Highbridge Park in Manhattan, Betsy Head Park in Brooklyn, Astoria Park in Queens and Freshkills Park on Staten Island.
City officials say the parks were chosen based on historical underinvestment, high surrounding population and potential for development.
Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver says the initiative will give New Yorkers in all five boroughs “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make their older parks new again.”
Not one park on the list for frum Yidden.
Is this a good use of public money? Seems like he could have helped the public in better ways.
ok = good thing they are doing = i think they should have a look at the Roebling Street Playground = in BROOKLYN NY = and maybe it will be put on the next list of playgrounds that need to put back into useable shape = the least that should be done is keep it up to a clean play area, i wish some news station would send some reporters to take pictures and post them on the news = for all to see the neglected condition of the ball playing area
Does it really cost $30m to fix each park?? Seems excessive to me.
There are other people besides the Yidden in NYC. Not that they count in your perception.
$150 million to replace a block worth of concrete and old tires?
We don’t need more funding, we need more efficiency. It doesn’t cost money, but it takes effort. The 18th avenue park won’t have a restroom.
