A spokesman with the Ocean County prosecutor’s office says the Toronto woman was hospitalized Wednesday in stable condition with minor injuries to her arm and leg.

Al Della Fave says Megan Fabieniak was struck by the pickup truck at around 8 a.m.

He says the front wheel of the truck struck her while she was reading on the beach and then the vehicle stopped on top of her. She was pulled out from under the truck and treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

Della Fave says the driver was taken to a hospital to submit blood samples for chemical testing and provide a statement.

And this woman didn’t see or hear a truck coming right at her. Must have been a good book! Well, seems like she has a terrific law suit.

To #1 -You article was condescending, and plain stupid! It was incumbent upon the driver of the truck on the beach, to look out for pedestrians. Sometimes, a car or a truck can sneak up on a pedestrian, with devastating consequences, especially in a parking lot, or on a public beach. Several years ago, there was a similar incident at a Florida beach with fatalities, because of the negligence of the driver of a garbage truck.
