Mohamed Mohamed filed the defamation lawsuit Sept. 21 in Dallas on behalf of himself and his 14-year-old son, Ahmed. Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne (dyn) is among those named in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit seeks a retraction, a jury trial and unspecified damages related to comments following the teen’s September 2015 arrest at an Irving school. A charge of having a hoax bomb was later dropped.

The lawsuit describes the Mohamed family as “peaceful Muslims” falsely accused of being terrorists.

Messages left for comment from Beck and Van Duyne weren’t immediately returned Tuesday.

We knew this was coming. These animals come to our country, take advantage of every benefit, and then sue.

There was nothing home made about his clock. He took apart an existing clock and put it back together again. It is remarkable how the media is bending over backward to make this kid seem like some kind of misunderstood engineering genius.

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech. Freedom of press is freedom of press. Defamation has major hurdles to overcome. This lawsuit is nonsense.

If this Muslim kid would take out his electronic clock toy on your flight in a middle of air – I promise you – you would remember this flight for the rest of your life!
