Washington – President Barack Obama says Congress’ vote overturning his veto of Sept. 11 legislation was “a mistake” and “basically a political vote.”

Obama also criticized some lawmakers, though none by name, for acknowledging they originally voted for the bill without knowing its contents.
Speaking during a CNN town hall event, Obama said he understands why the override happened, given the perceived political peril of voting against 9/11 families before an election.
But he says the right and harder thing to do would have been to let his veto stand.
Families of Sept. 11 victims will now be allowed to sue Saudi Arabia for its alleged backing of the attackers.
.CNN released the clip of Obama’s response to his first veto override hours before airing the full town hall Wednesday night.
He’s right. Even if the Saudis were successfully sued, they’d never have to pay. But this opens us up for a lot of lawsuits.

Only a deranged leader will not listen to the will of the people. Both parties voted overwhelmingly for him to consider it a political vote. Of course his Arab appeasing antics had to be shot down eventually.

Great, every single arab who was killed in Ghaza, Lybia, Iraq etc now can sue the USA and Israel. Tens of thousand of lawsuits are coming. There is more evidence that American or Israeli army killing arabs than One Single Saudi Soldier killing a single citizen. This move is just as smart as the Brits 3 years ago arrested Israeli soldiers. Israeli ministers had to stay on the planes otherwise they would have been arrested.
