Berlin – German Guesthouse Turns Away Israelis: ‘Our Apartments Are Not For Them’

Berlin – A group of Israeli tourists looking for board while planning a trip to Germany next summer were shocked after a guesthouse in the southwestern region of Baden-Württemberg last week urged them to cancel their reservation due to their nationality.

While planning a vacation for next August, the four Israeli families reserved lodging at the Mattenhof guesthouse in the Black Forest town of Zell am Harmersbach, explained one of the party’s members, Igor Tsehansky.

However, shortly after confirming the reservation, the administrators of the guesthouse contacted the Israelis with a slew of messages and notified them that they should cancel the booking.

Tsehansky said that he and his friends received the German-language notice less than week after making the arrangements.

“We don’t Want have Guests from Israel, because our apartments are Not for them [sic]. Please cancel the Booking,” read a Google translated message that Tsehansky posted to Facebook.

In light of the matter, the disgruntled Israeli traveler contacted the Booking.com platform that had facilitated the reservation to complain and request alternative accommodations.

“It took us weeks to find the hotel and we even ordered it a year in advance,” he told Jpost.com on Sunday.

Despite various attempts by the online accommodation booking website to make other accommodations or financial compensation for the Israeli group, the future tourists remained disconcerted by the ordeal.

“Nothing has been resolved,” he said, adding that he plans to file a complaint against the booking company.

According to Tsehansky, Booking.com said it had lowered the guesthouse’s review score in light of the incident, although Jpost.com could not confirm the action.

While Tsehansky noted that he had successfully booked a separate hotel for another leg of the Germany trip, the issue with the Black Forest lodging represented a “specific incident.”

As of Sunday evening, Booking.com had not responded to a request for comment by Jpost.com.

Shocked?!?!? This comes as no surprise with the rise of anti semitism in european countries and around. I’m more shocked that he planned to vacation in the land that still sears the blood of our forfathers.
Get a life and find a more decent and accommodating vacation place.

I’m not sure how an EU member is able to discriminate like this

Israeli hotels charge tourists approx 30% MORE than Israeli citizens. This disparity despite Israelis need to pay !7% VAT and tourists being exempt from that 17% VAT. This is discriminatory as well.

Why go back there. Do you enjoy sleeping on the blood of your ancestors? There are
other more beautiful places in the world to visit,
I hope this discrimination in Germany happens more often, as then we will finally get the message.

I see the outrage, But on the other hand we all know very well how Israelis behave when they are released from the zoo, they’re being thrown out of hotels after creating havoc & behave like hooligans, nicking towels, Soap etc. they get overly exited like little children, this is not to justify this particular case, as this was done just out of pure antisemitism, who remembers the signs in all departure gates at Ben Gurion Airport about 10 years ago saying
נוסעים לחופש? נא הצג אותנו בכבוד, & there must’ve been a reason that the government were asking & begging for this,,,
    (does this sound familiar? unfortunately)

Why would anyone want to go to Europe at all now, if you didn’t go to Europe about 5 years ago there is no more Europe, for it is now a mixture of Arab countries and some Europeans. Germany and France are totally no more and with all the terrible killings, rapes and robberies now why even think of going there. Some areas now have no go zones even to the police.

    We should start a campaign.
First find out the cancellation policy of the Guesthouse.
Get people to book a reservation & then call up right before the cancellation period ends (so no one loses any money Chas V’Shalom) to cancel the reservation. But most importantly, when asked why they are canceling, they should say

“BECAUSE YOUR APARTMENTS ARE NOT FOR US!!!”
