Jerusalem spokeswoman Brachie Sprung said plans in the Gilo area were first approved in 2012 and that Wednesday’s approvals were for “technical details of plot distribution.”

She said more detailed building permits will be required before the units are built. But the approval nonetheless raised hackles in the U.S. State Department.

“We strongly oppose settlement activity,” spokesman John Kirby told reporters, accusing Israel of actions that “risk entrenching a one-state reality” and raise serious questions about the Jewish state’s commitment to a negotiated settlement with the Palestinians.

Israel captured east Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1967.

Israel subsequently annexed east Jerusalem and considers areas like Gilo to be neighborhoods of its capital. The Palestinians claim east Jerusalem as their future capital, and most of the world considers settlement construction there and in the West Bank illegal or illegitimate.

In October, the State Department lashed out at Israel for approving a new settlement in the West Bank soon after the U.S. agreed to a $38 billion military aid package for Israel.

Observant Jews who follow the teachings of previous REAL Gedolim are against anything that angers the nations of the world.

True Torah observant Jews know that we are not allowed to have a Jewish state before the coming of Moshicah.

Remember why we are in exile? not becuase we lost the war with the Romans etc. We are in exile becuase: “Umipnei Chatoeinu Golinu Meiartzeinu”.

And any Jew who goes willingly to live in any of the settlements is plain insane and on a suicide mission.

    That’s the way to go!
Just remember it’s not a settlement, it neighborhood development.
By the way, why do the Arabs complain? They are free to move into these areas just as the Jews are! We are developing “their” future capital!

When the time comes for the millions and millions of Jews to be returned to their homeland, they will find everything ready built for them, houses, towns. and cities, mostly by non-religious Jews. They will not be coming to live in a desert , in the middle of nowhere in refugee tents.

Yerushalayim is a city flourishing and expanding, B”H. Walk her streets and watch the children laugh and skip home. There is shefa in the shouk and we should all be grateful and supportive. And, remember, Hashem runs the world, not American politicians.
