USA Today’s Travel Media Group runs seasonal 10Best Readers Choice awards that give readers the opportunity to vote for their favorites in a variety of categories. Their most recently ended contest was devoted to travel, with readers voting for Best Frequent Flyer Program, Best Hotel Loyalty Program, Best Co-Branded Credit Card, Best Rewards Credit Card and Best Miles-and-Points Blog. Dan’s Deals was one of ten blogs nominated by 10Best’s editors for Best Miles-and-Points blog and was named the winner of the contest on Friday.

Eleff said that after being informed by USA Today that he had been nominated in the contest, he posted a link on his blog encouraging readers to vote daily.

Eleff credited his readers with pushing him up to the top spot.

“Another blogger who has more traffic than I do commented about what a fanatical fan base I have,” Eleff told VIN News.

While Dan’s Deals consistently ranked at the top of the list during the voting period, Eleff acknowledged that finding out that he won the USA Today contest still came as a surprise.

“It’s nice to be acknowledged but I didn’t expect it because the other sites exclusively cover mileage,” said Eleff. “Dan’s Deals has always been about bargains and mileage is a part of it because it is part of the ecosystem of finding bargains.”
