Houston, TX - A Republican member of the Electoral College from Texas says he’s resigning so he won’t cast one of the state’s 38 electoral votes for Donald Trump.

Art Sisneros previously told The Associated Press that he was wavering on supporting Trump because the Republican “is not biblically qualified for office.”

In a lengthy weekend blog post, Sisneros updated that, saying “the best option I see at this time is to resign my position as an elector.”

Texas doesn’t require its presidential electors to vote in accordance with the state’s presidential election results. Trump won Texas by around 9 percentage points and captured 290 overall electoral votes to Hillary Clinton’s 232.

Texas electors meet in Austin next month to vote for president. By state law, they can vote then on a replacement for Sisneros.

This Elector is a republican, not a "leftist". The Electoral College was put into the Constitution in 1789 as a check and balance to the possibility of mob rule, and the popular vote going for a dictator, king, foreign leader or completely unprepared president. This elector has followed his conscience, as others have done before him, and will not cast his vote for a totally unprepared demagogue-fascist.

What does 'Demagogue fascist' mean?
If you mean someone with money who is inspirational, than you got Trump right.
If you mean someone who preys on false fears, than you are confusing him with Hillary.
He ran on the platform of 'Make America great Again' (AKA Hope), She ran under the banner 'If Trump is elected the sky will fall!' (AKA demagoguery and irrational fear). Sadly the media have done their best to paint a caricature of Trump and pretend it's the real thing, and this Republican fell for it. (Or the death threats that electors were receiving if they don't cheat for Hillary scared him away)
