The measure would roll back the government’s health care role and is expected to result in fewer people having insurance coverage.

House committees planned votes on the legislation Wednesday. That will launch perhaps the year’s defining battle in Congress, and GOP success is by no means assured because of internal divisions.

The plan would repeal the law’s fines on people who don’t purchase health insurance. Instead of the statute’s income-based premium subsidies, people would get tax credits based on age. The subsidies would phase out for higher-earning people.

Obama’s expansion of Medicaid to more lower-income people would continue until 2020. The bill would eventually change how the federal government helps finance that program.

Unless they get rid of the pre existing conditions burden that’s placed on responsible people who got insurance when healthy it’s a non starter . Pre existing conditions is by far the largest cost driver . It’s just not fair to charge 175 million hard working Americans for 20 million . Insurance is risk mitigation . But when healthy so you have when sick.

For those that are poor yes they should get Medicaid . But they should be charged co pays like the rest of us . And non essential goodies like dental should not be included . It’s not included in mine either .

Lastly sorry Lawrence but unversial health will kill our second to none health care system . Sorry I think it’s wishful thinking to believe that Germany’s system is better than the USA
