Their son, Neil Bush, speaking on his parents’ behalf as they received an award Wednesday in Houston from the Mensch International Foundation, says they understand this is “not a time for silence or ambivalence or indifference.”

He says they asked him to speak out on the “depravity in our midst and continue to condemn it in clear and simple ways.” Bush says society has come “too far and too many have struggled for too long and have sacrificed too much for us to go backward.”

The Mensch Award honors the nation’s 41st president and his wife for their service and friendship to the Jewish community.

What did Bush #41 ever do for the Jewish community? He tolerated James Baker, his friend in his administration, after Baker made obscene remarks about the Jewish community, when he stated (after uttering an obscenity about Jews), “they never voted for us”. Also, he stated that “I’m one little guy against THOSE lobbyists”, meaning AIPAC. In addition, he would not permit Israel to strike back against Iraq, after Scud missiles were launched from Iraq, at Israel. Last, he threatened to cut off aid to Israel after the First Gulf War, as he didn’t like Yitzchak Shamir. Bush #43 had a much closer relationship with the Jewish community, than did #41 .
