According to the Times Herald Record (http://bit.ly/2onU4Fu), the fire at 9 Taylor Court was reported at approximately 5 AM. Only three people were in the wood and brick house when the fire broke out and all were safely evacuated.

The four alarm blaze is believed to have begun at the rear section of the house’s third floor, which sustained heavy fire damage, according to public safety officials at the Village of Kiryas Joel. Both the first and second floor of the house suffered major water damage.

The flames from the fire were so intense that firefighters fanned out to protect homes located behind the Taylor Court house. By 8 AM, fire crews reported that the blaze was mostly under control, with a few remaining hot spots extinguished by 10 AM.

Investigators remained at the house throughout the day and have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Thankfully there were no injuries or deaths by anyone involved.
A special thank you goes out to all neighboring fire departments that responded to a mutual aid call.

I have a question for the more knowledgeable. If requested on Shabbos or any holiday, would KJ’s own fire department be allowed to provide mutual aid to any other fire department department that requested it?

I also would like to know about the KJ Fire Department. Does it have local volunteers?
