“During Jewish American Heritage Month, we celebrate our nation’s strong American Jewish heritage, rooted in the ancient faith and traditions of the Jewish people. The small band of Dutch Jews who first immigrated in 1654, seeking refuge and religious liberty, brought with them their families, their religion, and their cherished customs, which they have passed on from generation to generation,” read the proclamation issued by the White House late on Friday.

“The moral and ethical code of the Jewish people is inspired by their spiritual vocation of ‘tikkun olam’ ‑‑ the charge to repair the world. Through that vocation, the Jewish people have left an indelible mark on American culture. Today, it is manifested in the towering success Jewish people have achieved in America through a unique synthesis of respect for heritage and love of country,” the proclamation continued.

President George W. Bush first proclaimed May as Jewish Heritage Month in 2006, and it has been observed by every president since,

The statement used the Yiddish term “Di Goldene Medina,” or the Golden Country, to describe how Jews looked to the United States to escape religious persecution and seek economic opportunity.

The statement specifically mentioned Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and her husband Jared Kushner, who both serve as advisors in the White House. Ivanka Trump converted to Judaism before marrying Kushner in 2008.

“This month, I celebrate with my family ‑‑ including my daughter, Ivanka, my son-in-law, Jared, my grandchildren, and our extended family ‑‑ the deep spiritual connection that binds, and will always bind, the Jewish people to the United States and its founding principles. We recognize the faith and optimism exemplified by American Jews is what truly makes America ‘The Golden Country,’ and we express our Nation’s gratitude for this great, strong, prosperous, and loving people,” the proclamation noted.

Every Jew should be proud and thrilled that we finally have such a wonderful president who is also so staunchly pro Israel, especially after 8 years of a traitor who was pro-terrorist nations!

Dear Jared Kushner should give his father’n’law a lecture about the Jewish Mourning of the 24,000 students and followers of Reb Akivah who died in the weeks of “May” month.

Beautiful! No way anyone (at least on this forum) can find fault with the President’s heartfelt sentiments (I’m holding my breath).

#3 Just what relevance is Sfirah to America and in particular to a non-Jew?

If the readers will take another look of the photo of Jared and Ivanka, they will notice that neither one of them are holding onto the railing of the aircraft staircase. Instead, they are holding onto the kids. There could have each held onto to the two younger children, while holding onto the railing, with their free hand. Arabella could have held onto an aide. Even the President holds onto the railing when he goes down Air Force One’s staircase. it is not good sense to walk down that steep staircase, without holding on. I like both of them, but they should use more common sense. All it takes is to miss one step, and then disaster. I remember when President Ford fell down the stairs, while getting off Air Force One.
