Sources told VIN News that the 65 year old member of Flatbush’s Syrian community was returning home with family members on El Al Flight 07 after making a trip to Israel for a simcha.

The woman reportedly had an extensive medical history and had undergone a lengthy hospitalization this past winter.

Family members made a call from the cockpit at approximately 6 PM New York time to report the woman’s death which appears to be related to her medical condition.

Representatives of the medical examiner’s office, the Port Authority Police Department and Misaskim are all at JFK waiting for the plane, which is expected to arrive at 11:30 PM.

Passengers on the plane are expected to be delayed once the plane lands as authorities deal with the situation.

People die on airplanes every day. It is not clear why the newspaper is making a public spectacle of a private tragedy.

I agree that 1) 65 is far from elderly these days. 85 maybe. And 2) I agree that this is a piece for a “slow news” day and as such, probably shouldn’t have been published.
