Last April 25, after a judge awarded Aronov sole custody of the children, their mother, Pnina Siovnov, 29, who converted to Islam, absconded with them, first to Toronto and later to Pakistan.
She apparently married a 41-year-old Pakistani in Pakistan, after the marriage, Siovnov abruptly left with her children and arrived in Israel at the end of August, saying she had fled from her Pakistani husband, who she said threatened to harm her children if she did not obey him.

In January 2005, a New York State Supreme Court Judge had awarded Aronov full custody, the two sides reached an agreement that Siovnov would surrender the children to her ex-husband if he agreed to drop kidnapping charges against her.

Now he has filed suit against the New York City Police Department, which took a report from him on his children’s disappearance last April 22 but did not actively investigate the case for 17 days – a delay that Aronov says gave his ex-wife plenty of time to flee the country with the children.
Police Department spokesman Detective Dennis Laffin has denied Aronov’s charges.
