Paris France – Satmar Rebbe: Don’t Make Aliya, Israel Makes Jews Non-Religious

    38

Satmar Rebbe in FranceParis, France – The Grand Rabbi of the Satmar hassidic group in Williamsburg, New York, Rabbi Zalman Leib Teitelbaum – now on a visit to France – told a gathering of Jews not to immigrate to Israel because the state is making their co-religionists non-Jewish.

Satmar is a fiercely anti-Zionist hassidic group that has waged an ideological battle against the State of Israel since its inception.

Last year, the leader of the Williamsburg sect of Satmar adherents began raising millions of dollars to provide haredi (ultra-Orthodox) educational institutions for the children of French immigrants to Israel who arrived in record numbers following an increase in France in recent years of antisemitic hatred and attacks.

Teitelbaum and other haredi leaders have claimed that French immigrants in Israel are being secularized by the Jewish Agency.

The Jewish Agency for its part has described such claims as “absurd.”

Now, a Satmar spokesman said, Teitelbaum is seeking to raise money to strengthen the Jewish community in France to dissuade them from moving to Israel.

To further this goal, he is now visiting the country with a group of generous donors whom he is encouraging to donate to community projects there.

Speaking in Yiddish to haredim at a Paris conference center on Wednesday, Teitelbaum said he would financially support Jewish institutions in the French capital “so they will be a tower of light for the entire city.”

He warned his audience of spiritually negative consequences that would befall them if they move to the Jewish state.

“Don’t go up [make aliya] to the Land [of Israel], and don’t believe in all the good that they are promising you there,” adjured Teitelbaum.

“The evil ones of the state are causing Jews to lose their religion,” he said.

Teitelbaum said that many French Jews who had immigrated to Israel now regretted having done so because their children had stopped being religious.

“It’s very hard, almost impossible to remain a faithful Jew who believes in God and his Torah there.”

The Yeshiva World News website quoted Teitelbaum as saying many immigrants to Israel “undergo a spiritual holocaust” and have been cut off from Judaism.

Despite the rabbi’s alarming words, Robert Ejnes – president of the Jewish community in the Boulogne district of Paris and senior figure in the French Jewish community – said he believed almost no French Jews thinking of moving to Israel would pay attention to Teitelbaum’s warnings.

“The Satmar hassidic group doesn’t represent anything in France. Some communities are closer to their idea, but they are peripheral and they are very distant from the core of the community,” Ejnes told The Jerusalem Post.

Noting that French Jews are generally Zionists with lots of family in Israel whom they visit regularly, he said, “I don’t think this will have any effect. French Jews who are thinking about aliya will not pay attention to these comments.”

Just like his forebearers told the Yidden of Europe before the Churban, DON’T LEAVE EUROPE, ALL WILL BE FINE!

Ya, ya and France has a huge intermarriage with most Yidden marrying out. So, so disingenuous of the Ruv to speak this way.

This whole concept is very tough for a non-Jew to wrap his head around.

As Satmar becomes further and further detached from reality (stay in France with its 85% r’l intermarriage rate, USA with r’l 71% rate – Israel with a tiny intermarriage rate), one can only feel pity for them

Incomprehensible, even considering the narrowness of the Chareidi daled amos.

Is Teitelbaum for real? “It’s very hard, almost impossible to remain a faithful Jew who believes in God and his Torah there.”
Either that’s a mistranslation, or he’s a blithering idiot. Are no yidden becoming frei in France? Or in Williamsburg? Didn’t the Rambam say to move to EY even if it’s molei avoda zara? And right after parshas shelach he’s being motzi dibas ha’aretz? Oisvorf!

“almost no French Jews thinking of moving to Israel would pay attention to Teitelbaum’s warnings”

I would re phrase and say ” Almost no normal, Torah observant, intelligent Jew…”

To say his comments are narrow minded, myopic and destructive would be kind.

Teitelbaum is right! Although he preached a few months ago and raised buckets for the Jews to make Aliya, hes now changing his mind to where he really comes from. That was in total contrast with Satmar/Torah ideology. Making Aliya is bad for Every Yid especially shvache Yiddn that think they arrive to the “holy land” and let loose on evrything cuz were amongst Yiddn& everything must b right Although Teitlbaum is flip flopping on his decision, i must admit its the right move. Aliya is a dangerous move!

200 French Jews will arrive in Israel on Monday 16 Tammuz aboard a special Aliyah flight organized by The Jewish Agency for Israel in partnership with the Ministry of Aliyah & Immigrant Absorption and Keren HaYesod-UIA.

Yes, stay in EXILE for another 2000 years to get treated like doormats, and so you can get exploited by the feuding Satmar brothers dressed like its 1650 hungaria. Why hold your head up as proud Jews in modern Israel when you can slink around in medieval Willy and Monsey?

Easy for him to say, being that he is surrounded by bodyguards and shamussim 24/7.
He doesn’t go to the washroom without a posse.

Has he ever heard of Charlie Hebdo , or Hyper Casher market?!?

This ignorant man this man lives in a bubble and has gone from being an ignoramus to dangerous ignoramus

France is second only to Belgium in percentage of Muslim population. Marseilles was recently voted the most dangerous city in Europe . In Marseilles and many other French city’s, Muslims have set up unofficial checkpoints, and Sharia law trumps French civil law.
If anybody in France is convinced to reconsider their emigration plans and stay put, their blood is on his hands.
I hope he is prepared to give din v’cheshban for it.

    He has a point.

His followers here in Israel can’t be considered Jewish let alone religious if they demonstrate, send packages with wires & threatening letters and hurl abuse along with rocks and filthy diapers at soldiers, police and their families. So go back to Williamsburg, the whole disgusting lot of you, and leave us in Israel alone.

Stay in France and see how long you last without your dictatorship and fiefdom. One thing, don’t bother coming to Israel, we don’t want you. I don’t think Willy wants you back, either. Take all your parasite followers in Israel with you as well, they aren’t frum according to you, but they are useless scammers.

    This is most incorrect!
VIN should not have posted this article in the first case. it is the publishers responsibility to ascertain the veracity of an article, especially in a case when it could paint an entirely incorrect picture.
That is NOT what the Satmar Rebbe said, nor what he implied. He has not, as such told Freech jews not to move to EY. In fact, he is, one of the few gedoilim who is actually supporting French Jews in EY, together with Reb Malkiel Kotler and Reb Dovi Feinstein. The have raised a few Million USD to assist French jews in EY, many of whom are struggling. He has not set out to indoctrinate these jews with his ideologies.

having set out on his original campaign, he was approached by the leaders of Charedi Jewry who remain in France, who advised that for various reason, since many affluent jews have left, so most of their support system. They approached man other gedoilim, prior, and all offered blessings. None actually offered t do anything!
The Satmar Rebbe did something about it!! despite the crushing responsibility of running his own vast network of institutions, he is encouraging those around him to assist French Jewry.
