The Staten Island Advance (http://bit.ly/2tNNRUY ) says the project is now “indefinitely delayed” after its developer fired the design-build team working on the 60-story New York Wheel.
The paper says construction has been at a standstill since May when the designers, Mammoet-Starneth, stopped working as tensions mounted over delays and financing woes.
The developer, New York Wheel LLC, says the contractors failed to meet multiple design and construction deadlines. They say more money may be needed as they seek a new contractor.
A lawyer for the Mammoet-Starneth denied the allegations and says the developer “has been in default of its obligation.”
The Ferris wheel had been scheduled to open next spring, but now that’s uncertain.
