U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Guterres urges everyone to “act responsibly to avoid escalation.”
He said the secretary-general welcomes Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ swift condemnation of Friday’s attack and the assurances by Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu “that the status quo at the holy sites in Jerusalem will be respected.”
Dujarric said Guterres stresses that “the sanctity of religious sites should be respected as places for reflection, not violence.”

I had to really make a double take. The UN general’s condemnation was accurately made against the Arab act of terrorism and not Israeli response. Wow.
